Winter is all about staying warm, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look great while doing it. How can you stay stylish underneath all those layers? Accessorize! With the low temps and inevitable snow storms to come, there are a few key items you will want in your closet this season.
#1. Pea Coats
Back to the basics with a classic pea coat, whether it’s short and flared, long and fitted, or rocks a hood, this is a winter must-have. Perfect for a night out when you want to look just as nice when you arrive as you do once you hang up your coat. Or when you want to stay warm but still look professional when you head out for a business lunch. Keep your fuzzy coat for playing in the snow and grab your sleek pea coat to class it up!
What better way to accessorize under all those bulky clothes then to accentuate your bottom half. Throw on a comfy pair of patterned leggings and add a twist to that long sweater! Pair it with an adorable pair of ankle boots and while everyone else notices how great you look, they won’t even realize how comfy you feel.
Having a bad hair day? Headed out on a windy day for an ice skating date and don’t know what to do with your hair? Grab a cute headband and throw some curls to your ends for a flawless winter look. Headbands are an inexpensive way to add some style to your everyday look and keep warm all at the same time.
Scarves are a perfect way to turn any boring sweater into a stylish winter look. When you’re getting ready in the morning and all you want to wear is that big, bulky sweater to keep warm, throw on a patterned scarf to add an extra dimension to your look. Suddenly that boring old sweater isn’t so boring anymore.
Ponchos are all the rave this year. If you are wondering why, you obviously haven’t tried one on yet. When is it ever acceptable to wear a blanket out of the house? (Hint..it isn’t) But this winter, grab a cozy, soft poncho, wrap it over your shoulders and feel the comforts of home as you head out and attack the day. Wear your poncho as a comfy look with leggings and a high bun, or rock your curly locks with a glittery tank top underneath and a long necklace for a night out look.
#6. Tank Tops
Did she just say tank tops? In winter? Yes, I did! Don’t pack away all those adorable little tank tops you wore all summer. Just find a new way to wear them. Have a closet full of open front cardigans and never know what to wear under them? Mix it up with a patterned or graphic tank for a fun look.
